My Story

I am 43, and I just found out I have diabetes. I didn't think much of it when someone said I was borderline diabetic a few years back - now I am facing the reprocussions for not changing my habits earlier.

I have to take 1000 grams of Metformin daily. At the end of December 2010 I thought I had a bladder infection - but when craberry juice wasnt doing the trick I went to the doctor and was told I had no infection - my sugar levels were over 275 - the number was much higher than the last I time I had a test - imediately I started crying as she asked me about other symptoms - my eyesight has changed a lot over the past two years- my energy gone and some other things I wont go into - all I could think was I was going to have amputated legs and go blind. She assured me by taking the pills, really paying attention to my food intake and adding exersise could control this disease -

so here I am - a smile on my face and hope in my heart I can beat it. I hope to find people here who will support me in my battle.

Can't wait to be a loser :-)

My Goals For This Year:

Realistically 120 is th last time I felt the strongest - I know I am capable of it with hard work - I would like to lose about a pound a week - any thing subtracted i better thn a gain.

Favorite Books & Music

I am over 40 so of course I like most 80's music - big band, broadway, Jack johnson, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, and sometime I jam to drowning pool.
